​Day 0: Arrival in Marrakesh

Arrival:
Arrive in Marrakech at any time during the day.
Highlights:
  • Jemaa el-Fnaa Square: Start your adventure with a visit to Jemaa el-Fnaa, the vibrant heart of Marrakech. This UNESCO World Heritage site is filled with street performers, food stalls, snake charmers, and musicians. It's a lively introduction to the city’s rich culture.
  • Souks of Marrakech: Wander through the maze of souks, traditional markets filled with colorful stalls offering spices, textiles, jewelry, and pottery. These markets offer a taste of Moroccan craftsmanship.

Day 1: Marrakesh to Imlil

Start:
Pickup from your Marrakech accommodation at 8:00 AM.
Distance:
70 km from Marrakech to Imlil.
Elevation Gain:
Approximately 1,300 meters as you head into the Atlas Mountains.
Terrain:
A mix of gravel roads and single tracks through olive groves, Berber villages, and rugged mountain paths.

  1. Imlil Village:
    • Imlil is a small Berber village nestled at the base of Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak. Known for its trekking and biking, the village offers scenic mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere, with stone houses and narrow lanes.

    • The Berber people, indigenous to this region, have a rich history of farming, craftsmanship, and mountain living. Their culture is deeply connected to the land and the mountains surrounding them, offering a unique insight into their traditions.

Day 2: Imlil to Tizi n’Test

  • ​Tizi n'Test Pass: A spectacular mountain pass, Tizi n’Test stands at 2,100 meters and oers panoramic views of the Atlas Mountains and surrounding valleys. The ride up is challenging, but the reward is a breathtaking vista.
  • Cultural Insight: The Tizi n'Test region is predominantly inhabited by Berber communities. The name of the pass itself is derived from the Berber language, meaning "the pass of the mouth."
  • Geological Overview: As you ascend to the pass, you’ll traverse terrain shaped by tectonic plate movements and centuries of erosion, creating dramatic ridges and valleys.

  • Saron Fields of Taliouine: Known as the saron capital of Morocco, Taliouine’s elds are vibrant in color, especially during the harvest season. Learn about the traditional methods of saron cultivation and its signicance in Moroccan cuisine and culture.
